DANCING ABOUT ARCHITECTURE
I love the way that MARBL is able to wander neatly between infectious pop, indie-folk cool and a more sophisticated pathway echoing timeless soul and jazz classics. And after a string of singles that lean towards one or the other of those styles, You’re On My Mind somehow mixes all of them together in equal measure.

“You’re On My Mind” ist ein Song voller Sehnsucht. Er erzählt von einem Moment der Nachdenklichkeit der Künstlerin MARBL. Eines Morgens im Herbst, als Einsamkeit sich seinen Weg bahnte, schloss MARBL die Augen und reiste in Gedanken in eine andere Zeit, in der sie die Leere mit dem wärmenden Gefühl füllen konnte, welches sie vermisst hatte.

Bei MARBL verhält es sich ähnlich: Die entspannte Atmosphäre auf der sechs Track starken EP "The Flight Of The Hawks" verortet sich ebenfalls im klassischen Folk-Pop, wird mit "I Think I Saw You On The Street" oder "You're On my Mind" geradezu prototypisch und liefert damit den perfekten Soundtrack für einen verschwenderisch sonnigen Sonntagmorgen, bei dem man bei einem Becher Kaffee auf der Terasse sitzt und seinen Gedaken nachhängen möchte.

I am loving those intricate acoustic guitar melodies and how they fit perfectly with the emotive piano keys. All this backs her smooth, enchanting vocals that instantly drew me towards the song. Loving her haunting harmonies and how there's a vulnerable atmosphere in the song.

Joe Connor Little is a London-based singer-songwriter that deserves your attention and his debut single, “Ordinary”, is here to prove that. Little draws a lot of musical inspiration from film scores which echoes in the pacing of this song. “Ordinary” moves at a slow and somber pace with just enough luster in the dark to compel you forward… and then to make you want to listen again. The luster, of course, comes from Little’s emotionally moving vocal delivery and vulnerable lyrics.
